a painting a day envy

So I finally started a new painting today. Since the 18th of December I have been trying to make this happen. So yay, finally. I ended last semester with so much energy ready to paint, ready to polish my portfolio for upcoming interviews. I have gotten closer to finishing two other paintings...the one of a previous post--the portrait of my brother and nephew--and another painting I will post here when it is finished.

So for some reason I have a fascination with painting food which is unhealthy, here is my donut. I started and almost completed it today. I need to add sprinkles and fix the highlights a little. I titled this post "a painting a day envy" because in the midst of trying to paint this winter break I have been doing research on the dedicated painters out there who are part of the "A Painting a Day" blogs. Their work is inspiring and I only wish to have the time and dedication to accomplish a portion of a painting a day. My goal is to start with a month perhaps and see how it goes. This pink donut is oil on canvas, 14 x 18, most of the painting a day paintings are miniatures---4 x4's 5 x 5's etc. Exciting new goal.
