Happy new year! So as it is the very first day of the year 2010 and a new decade, I decided to create a blog of my own--outside of the requirements of a Professor--and cater to my needs to proclaim the influences of the art world I appreciate by sharing those ideas here for fellow art folk to experience. This blog is also to share my own artwork I am currently creating for my personal satisfaction, portfolio, and career oriented purpose. I have 2 major portfolio reviews/interviews coming up in March so any feedback is desired--constructive criticism is invited--comments, questions, and input please! So enjoy, I plan on rekindling a serious commitment to my creative process and art development.
The above image is a work in progress oil on canvas. Initially a painting assignment from the Fall 2009 semester, it is not yet finished. I have spent a lot of time learning how to paint portraits recently, the people in the painting are my brother Robbie with my nephew Ryan on his shoulders. This was a fun playful afternoon and I chose to make this painting fun and playful as well by bring in additional colors to the shirt. There is still a lot of work to be done on this painting, it is an exciting process. Anyone see any obvious fixes I am blind to at this point?
add more dimensionality to the baby's face. its kinda flat right now. I love the shirt and the facial expressions, and how playful it is. you can totally do the three dimensional thing because you achieved it on your brothers face, so just continue and you will have an awesome painting.
